About Colony Creek Mariners
Colony Creek Mariners was formed as a neighborhood swim team in 1985. We are part of NWAL (Northwest Aquatic League), Texas' largest summer swimming organization. Each season, NWAL uses sophisticated algorithms based on previous year's rankings, team size and geographical location to determine the divisional line-ups.
Our summer-league team is a community-based organization serving Colony Creek, Champion Springs and Memorial Chase subdivisions. The Mariners also service many of the surrounding neighborhoods that do not have their own swim team, such as Champion Forest, Brentwood Lakes and Memorial Springs.
Our season runs from April-June each year.
Children between the ages of 4-18 are eligible to join the Mariners and no previous swim team experience is required. We believe in fun and competitive swim with a focus on personal improvement. All swimmers, seasoned and new, are taught strokes and techniques.
While we do pay our Mariners' coaches, our team relies heavily on our parent volunteers. This includes our board members and parents who volunteer behind the scenes and at meets.
Mariners In Training (MIT) Program
For swimmers who cannot safely swim across the pool) we have our Mariners in Training (MIT) Program. The MIT Program helps them become more confident in the water, teaches water safety and helps them learn to swim the length of the pool. MITs meet during their own practice time. Once MITs can safely cross the pool they will practice during their regular aged practice time and begin competing in meets. Parents of MIT swimmers are required to meet volunteer requirements.
To Be Eligible for the MIT Program Your Swimmer Must
- Be comfortable in the water/getting in the water
- Be able to push off the wall by themselves to a coach 5-10 feet away
- Be capable of floating on their own
- Be comfortable putting their face in the water
Colony Creek Mariners Pool
Our practice and meet pool is housed within Colony Creek Village. The community at Colony Creek graciously allows us to use their facilities year after year. We cannot thank them enough for their generosity over the years. Click here to learn more about Colony Creek Village.

We love our Mariners coaches! If you need to get in contact with a coach please email [email protected] and put the coach's name in the subject line.
I’m Lynn Simmons, and I am privileged to serve as the Mariner’s head coach this year!
I have been with the Mariners in a coaching capacity for the past 17 years and have loved every minute of it!
My husband, Doug and I have two (now adult) sons. Tyler (25) and Erik (21) both swam for the Mariners.
Our family enjoys vacations to the mountains where we go skiing in the winter and hiking, rafting and backpacking in the summer.
I am looking forward to meeting the new swimmers and seeing the returning swimmers in April! GO MARINERS!
Coach Victoria is back for her second season with the Mariners! Victoria currently coaches for United Swim Aquatics and United swim school. She has volunteered with Klein special olympic swimmers and she swam for Klein High School. She will head up our MIT (Mariners In Training) program!
Coach Sam has swam for the lat 15 years and has also played water polo. He's a coach with United Swim Aquatics helping all ages of swimmers advance in swimming. Outside of the pool, he enjoys traveling, building LEGOs, cold weather, and trying new foods.
